Portraits

At first it was like an experiment, where I thought I would make a personalized portrait of my family from macrame dolls. It was very appreciated by my friends, then I got the hang of it and started offering them to others. I have so much joy and gratitude for every portrait you entrust me with, because it allows me to look into your wonderful families and become your ally and friend, even for a short while.

Portraits in a frame

Doll portrait - how is it made?

Every portrait begins with a client - a person who wants to please themselves or someone they love.

Believe me, when I get an order notification, I do a little dance of joy!

It doesn't take much to make a portrait - just a couple of photos and some of your answers to my questions.

1. photos

To create a portrait, I need photos of all the people (including pets).

People often worry that they don't have access to group photos, but that's a minor thing - individual photos are fine for me too.

The most important things in choosing a photo:

  • The colors are true to reality - they are not darkened and have color filters.
  • It is possible to see persons hair and specific features, such as glasses.

2. In a frame or in a circle?

There are two types of portraits available - in a photo frame or in a metal ring. It is the client's free choice which type to choose. Here is a brief description of each of them.

The portrait in the photo frame is easy to display, it is protected from dust and it is possible to add handwritten or hot stamping text to it.

The portrait in the circle is "touchable", it can be supplemented with macrame, and the dolls can be viewed from all sides.

3. color palette selection

I most often give the client the opportunity to choose the overall color tone of the portrait. Pastels, earth tones, blue-white, blue-pink are usually the most popular choices.

Sometimes the customer specifies very precisely what colors they want for each doll, and you certainly can do that.

But sometimes the client doesn't have any specific wishes, so I choose the overall tone of the work myself.

4. small details

To better see personalities in the portrait, I always add various small details to my creations.

That's why descriptions of hobbies, occupations, and favorite things are very useful.

A wide range of different ready-made elements is available, but with my laser machine I can produce precise personalized small parts if necessary.

5. text

The portrait in the photo frame can be supplemented with text using hot stamping or calligraphy techniques.

Portraits, both in a frame and in a circle, can be supplemented with text created with a laser cutter from wood or acrylic.

It can be a sweet text, a family name, or a significant date - it's your free choice.

6. PRice

The standard price is calculated based on the principle of €30 for the first person and +€7.5 for each additional person and pet.

The standard option is a portrait in a photo frame or metal ring (starting from 20 cm in diameter) with macrame or artificial greenery/flowers.

For large frames and rings (6 people and more) an additional +10 euros.

In addition, artificial flowers in a frame, combined knotting and flowers for a portrait in a circle, etc. individually made decorations from +5€.

Text in calligraphy or hot-press technique +3€.

Text with a laser cutter +5€.
